Interchange stations with different names in Hong Kong

This time I will mention the stations which share (nearly) the same location but with different names.

  • “Central”/”Hong Kong” : Shared paid area.
  • “Tsim Sha Tsui”/”East Tsim Sha Tsui” : Although they did not have shared paid area, but there is no extra charge to interchange between these 2 stations if you use Octopus.
  • “Lo Wu”/”Luo Hu”/”Shenzhen” : It refers to the stations across the boundary between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. On Hong Kong side there is “Lo Wu” station (MTR East Rail Line), while on Shenzhen side there are “Luo Hu” station (Shenzhen Metro Line 1) or “Shenzhen” station (MOR). No shared paid area between them. Passengers after getting off the trains at “Lo Wu” station should proceed to Shenzhen side.
  • “Lok Ma Chau”/”Fu Tian Kou An” : It refers to another stations across the boundary between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. “Lok Ma Chau” station sits on Hong Kong side while “Fu Tian Kou An” station sits on Shenzhen side. No shared paid area between them. Passengers after getting off the trains at “Lok Ma Chau” station should proceed to Shenzhen side.
  • It is needed to point out that although “Kowloon” station and “Austin” station share nearly the same location, they are NOT a pair of interchange stations.
