It looks very similar with those from Bombardier, but this one is in fact re-designed using the development platform of CNR Changchun. There are many changes in minor parts but a lot of devices are still come from Bombardier.

Changes in terminology after merger
This time I would like to have an illustration on the confusions occured on the names of companies and rail lines, after the merger of the 2 railway companies.
Before the merger, KCR (Kowloon-Canton Railway) is the operator of these rail lines:
- East Rail
- West Rail
- Ma On Shan Rail
- Light Rail
while MTR is the operator of these rail lines:
- Island Line
- Tsuen Wan Line
- Kwun Tong Line
- Tseung Kwan O Line
- Tung Chung Line
- Airport Express
After the merger, MTR has become the only operator of all these rail lines. Some rail lines have been renamed:
- East Rail -> East Rail Line
- West Rail -> West Rail Line
- Ma On Shan Rail -> Ma On Shan Line
However, such new terms are still not that adapted by most people. Also, “KCR” is still widely used. In case you want to ask someone on the street for ways to rail stations, such confusions may become troubles. So I would like to provide you something “fail safe”.
- “MTR” can be used as default.
- The old name “East Rail”, “West Rail” and “Ma On Shan Rail” is recommend to be used as default, and it is safe to forget their new names.
- In fact, just call all of them “trains” is the most “fail safe” choice. However , I think it is still necessary to have such illustrations because those new terms have been adapted by official guides.
